Week 7 Review and Week 8 Preview
Week 7 Recap:
That huge weekend of games did not disappoint at all. SO many thrillers. We’ll start with the obvious, Tennessee beats Alabama in a shootout. Tennessee has an electric offense, Bama doesn’t have those receivers or defense like they normally do, still a good chance they win the SEC. Michigan blows out Penn State, 400 yards rushing.TCU beats Oklahoma State in 2OT. Utah gets ballsy at home and goes for 2 to take the lead 43-42 with 45 seconds left and hangs on. Kentucky shuts down Mississippi State’s high power offense and wins. Syracuse beats NC State whose starting QB is done for the year. Illini looked dominant in the win over Minnesota, waiting for Josh McCray to come back to lighten the load for Chase Brown. DeVito is key to this offense. Much needed bye week for the Illini.

Rational:
Lots of good games this weekend. Not as good as last weekend, but still a top 10 matchup in UCLA vs Oregon. Was deciding between Texas and Penn State, here’s my rationale for both. Penn State just came off a pretty bad loss to Michigan. With Minnesota’s QB being questionable I don’t think taking Penn State at home in a turn around game would be the worst idea. However, I like Texas more. I love watching Ewers and Robinson play. Texas’s defense continues to be great. The offense did look sloppy against Iowa State but Oklahoma State’s defense is pretty bad. Oklahoma State has an explosive offense but I think Texas can slow them down and take advantage of their defense. Clemson was the easy pick. I think this line being at -13.5 is pretty good and here’s why. Syracuse is undefeated, but has played 5 of their 6 games at home. They should have lost to Purdue but got insanely lucky, barely beat Virginia who stinks, and beat an ok NC State team with their QB out who is their best player. Meanwhile, Clemson has just continued to chug along already and continued to look better. Their DBs are the weak part of the defense but Syracuse doesn’t have an overwhelmingly great pass offense. I love teasing Clemson to -6.5 and could see this going south for Syracuse quickly being at Death Valley and not having played anyone close to Clemson’s caliber. Enjoy the games, let’s get 3 straight wins.
